Compact Fluorescent Lamp Teardown
- A look inside a failed CFL -

Below are some pictures I took while doing a teardown of a failed Compact Fluorescent Lamp. The lamp is manufactured by General Electric (GE). It is model number FLE26/2/PAR38/XL and is a 26-Watt, 2700 Kelvin reflector-flood lamp designed to replace incandecent and halogen lamps with PAR38 reflectors. This lamp failed as a result of being installed in a fixture controlled by a photocell. The ballast appears to have sustained no damage, but is the likely source of failure since this lamp was not designed for use with dimmers or photocells.
